Mark Kurai
3rd Year Graduate Student As a researcher, I isolate factors that allow marginalized populations to thrive in environments that are often hostile; as an educator, I teach strategies that allow individuals to buffer themselves against the prejudices they encounter. I use an interdisciplinary approach to investigate the situation- and person-centered variables that allow stigmatized individuals to prosper. My current focus is how people construct and manage multiple social identities in the context of a threatening event. |
