Here is a campus link that discusses the reader position.
Definition: The title Reader is given to a student employed for the ability to render diverse services as a "course assistant," which will normally include the grading of student papers, and examinations. A Reader will not be given the responsibilities customarily accorded a Teaching Assistant.
Readers should not be required to hold regular office hours and conduct review sessions. If you have copies to be made you can request that Bryce Esch or the student in the front office (room 134) make them. Please give them adequate time (48 hours) to process the request.
A Reader is paid for 2 hours of work per student, this limit cannot be exceeded. If an instructor requires a Reader to attend lecture, be sure to include this time as part of the hourly allotment.
