The main focus of our research concerns the development of memory and metamemory in childhood. Broadly, we address questions such as: What are the building blocks of the developing ability to encode, store, and retrieve episodic memories from one’s own past? How does the subjective experience of remembering develop? What are the mechanisms underlying the complementary ability to remember nonoccurrences (i.e., remember that events did not happen)?  Our studies examine typical and atypical development, and involve behavioral and neuroimaging methods. Our research is funded by the National Science Foundation, NICHD, and the Children’s Miracle Network.
