This feature-length video consists of interviews with 11 men and women of diverse ages, ethnic backgrounds, and sexual orientations. All are living with HIV. Five of those featured are gay men. Peter Adair – the video's gay, HIV-positive director – serves as host for the production.

The participants discuss their feelings surrounding their HIV infection, including their initial reactions and coping strategies. Several interviews are emotionally charged and address the psychological strain of coping with the impediments that HIV disease can present to daily life. Also addressed is the impact of HIV on the relationships of mixed serostatus couples. The video concludes with several participants discussing whether HIV disease has become a manageable disease, and the importance of maintaining hope and continuing the pursuit of plans for the future.

The participants' optimism and occasional good humor show that they are very much alive, despite the pain and discomfort they experience. The overall message of the video is positive and upbeat. The participants enjoy an appreciation of what is good in life, and work on establishing more constructive ways of dealing with what is bad. Originally produced as part of the Public Broadcasting Service POV (Point of View) series, this talking-head style production is well produced and interesting throughout.
