Like its predecessor, The Gay Man's Guide To Safer Sex, this video features clear and candid information on safer sex practices and HIV disease. Unlike the previous video, this version is targeted specifically to gay and bisexual male youth–teenage through mid-twenties. It addresses issues facing young men who are newly out of the closet or are coming out. A White adult gay male physician serves as host. Also included are interviews with a wide range of young gay men and explicit sexual demonstrations.

This sexually explicit British production addresses the importance of safer sex and emphasizes how safer sex can be erotic and fun. It also addresses the feelings of invulnerability to HIV that many young gay men experience that can lead to sexual risk taking, and the thoughts and feelings of some men who are HIV positive in regard to their responsibility to protect themselves and others.

The video uses language and examples salient to the gay and bisexual male community. It discusses drinking and drug use in a nonjudgmental manner and addresses how substance use can impair judgment and increase sexual risk taking; responsible substance use is advocated. The seriousness of HIV disease is discussed in the context of other sexually transmitted diseases.

The technical quality of the production is excellent. The information is presented in a nonmoralistic manner. The video thoughtfully addresses controversial topics such as intergenerational relationships and sex for money. Some U.S. viewers may not understand some British colloquialisms or references to British brands of condoms and British sources of information. Some viewers may not be able to comprehend the text that rolls along the bottom of the screen, which is often presented while someone is talking or during a sexually explicit scene.
