This sexually explicit instructional video for deaf gay and bisexual men describes and demonstrates how to practice safer sex through dramatization and demonstration. Information is communicated through subtitles and sign language–there is no audio soundtrack.

Part 1 presents basic information about HIV/AIDS including how it is transmitted; how gay and bisexual men can protect themselves; how bisexual men can practice safe sex with women; transmission routes through sex and injection drug use; an IV needle cleaning demonstration; and explicit demonstrations of safer sex.

The second part explains the importance of having safer sex in long-term relationships and in casual sexual encounters; how drug and alcohol can impair decision making about safer sex; and how to eroticize safer sex.

Part 3 describes the HIV antibody test and issues associated with being testing: deciding whether to be tested; pre- and post-test counseling; problems of communication with hearing counselors; anonymous versus confidential testing (the former is recommended); and understanding test results. The final part of the video addresses sexual fantasies and role-playing; it emphasizes that these activities can be a form of safer sex.

The technical production quality of the video is good. The scenarios cover a wide range of safer sex situations, the information presented is thorough, and the special needs of deaf men are addressed. The main recommendations are summarized at the end of segments. The video is long, but is divided into four sequential segments that can be viewed at different times. The host appears in several roles throughout the video, which makes the video more interesting.
