This video explores the sexual behavior, thoughts, and feelings of gay men, using a series of 15 interviews interspersed with explicit scenes of men having sex. The interviewees discuss the role that sex plays in their lives, the ease or difficulty they experience in practicing safer sex, and the emotional implications of sex and intimacy. In discussing how AIDS has affected them, the men describe how they coped with the initial discovery of AIDS in 1982, their subsequent reactions to their AIDS-related fears, and their loss of partners to HIV disease. The men with HIV disease discuss how their diagnosis has affected their lives.

The interviewed men represent a broad spectrum of ages, physical appearance, celebrity, color, ethnicity, HIV serostatus, and preferred sexual activities. Statements by Jesse Helms and others are presented to represent conservative thinking about homosexuality; the men in the video discuss counter arguments to those views.

The technical quality of this video is excellent. The video provides a comprehensive overview of gay male sexuality and challenges viewers to examine their stereotypes and feelings. The “talking-head” interviews and explicit sexual scenes combine to offer an engaging production. The interviews are very personal and revealing.
