** Becoming a Peer Advisor! **
Under the supervision and guidance of the Yellow Cluster staff advisors, peer advisors assist current students in a one-on-one setting. They help students with course scheduling and major related questions while providing support when students are stressed, discouraged, or unsure of college or major requirements. Peer advisors will also help conduct degree checks for seniors, go over GE requirements, and make academic plans. Other duties include handling paperwork, composing emails to the department listservs, and working on projects assigned by the staff advisors. Peers may be asked to answer phones or cover the office for short periods of time when the staff advisors are unavailable. Peer advisors are also expected to help out at recruitment events including both freshman and transfer Decision Days in April and May. This is an opportunity to further develop your advising/counseling, leadership, and office skills in a supportive and professional environment. Applicants must be available to enroll in EDU 198 (4 units) during Spring 2017 (MW 8-9:50am).
