INTRO TO COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY

Spring Quarter 2005

Units: 4
Prerequisites: Psychology 1 and Psychology 41

Course Goals:

Introduction to human information processing, mental representation and transformation, imagery, attention, memory, language processing, concept formation, problem solving, and computer simulation. This course is the prerequisite for PSC 130, 132, and 135.

Introduction Neurocognition

Attention Consciousness

Pattern Recognition Perception

Knowledge Representation Memory

Language Problem Solving

Imagery Reasoning & Choice

Course Format:

Lecture: 4 hours

Exams: Two midterms and a two-hour final. Multiple-choice format. Example examinations and some lecture notes will be provided on a Course Website.

Grading: Quarter grade will be based on an average of the exams.
