Prerequisites: Psychology 1, 41, 100 or consent of instructor.

Course description: This course introduces students to the basic concepts and theories in the field of psycholinguistics. The course provides an overview of the structures and processes, both mental and neurological, involved in comprehending and producing language.

 

Course format: This is a 4 unit course with a lecture format.

 

Course topics: Topics include basic neurology, speech perception, word recognition, syntactic analysis, sentence processing, reading, and language disorders.

 

Grading:   Grades will be based on 3 midterm exams and a research paper.
