DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY

Course description: This course provides an introduction to the science of developmental psychology. It explores theories and research about human development from conception to early adolescence. Central topics include physical, cognitive, and social development. Special attention is paid to research methods, environmental and biological influences on development, and the implications of developmental research for parenting, education, and social policy. I expect students to integrate their personal experiences, knowledge of psychology, and their observations of human development with the content of this course. Course format: This is a 4 unit course comprised of two hours of lecture twice a week. Grading: Grades will be based on three midterms and a final (you can drop your lowest exam grade). There will also be a short paper.
