PSYCHOLOGY 204C Section:
Spring Quarter 2005
|Prerequisites:||PSC 204A or the equivalent or consent of instructor.|
Course Topics: The course will cover a range of topics related to psychometric theory, including classic test theory, estimation of reliability, assessment of validity, factor analysis as a general psychometric approach, and modern test theory (also called item response theory). The course will be presented primarily in lecture format, with some time set aside for discussion of issues. In addition, some course time will be devoted to computer exercises using software appropriate for both classical test theory as well as item response theory approaches.
The examinations in the course will consist of one midterm exam (contributing 40% to final grade) and a final exam (40% of final grade). Homework exercises will be given about every 2 weeks; homework will contribute 20% of the final grade.
