    Course description: This course provides an in-depth examination of the theories, debates, and research in cognitive development, with particular emphasis on infancy and childhood.  Through careful investigation and discussion of classic and contemporary articles and book chapters, we will address the development of perception, concepts & categorization, language, social cognition, memory, problem solving, and scientific reasoning.


    Grading:   Grades will be based on written discussion questions & class participation:  30%; Leading class discussion:  30%; Final research paper: 40%
