Description
More and more data are being generated continuously during a time interval or intermittently at several discrete time points for many units or subjects. These are instances of functional data, which also cover various types of longitudinal data. Functional Data Analysis (FDA) is the statistical methodology for data that include random functions. Basic tools such as Functional Principal Component Analysis (FPCA) and functional regression will be briefly reviewed, as well as more recent work on optimal designs for functional/longitudinal data.
