Distinguished Emeritus Professor Shaver Elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Distinguished Emeritus Professor Phillip Shaver was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Established in 1780, the academy “honors excellence and convenes leaders from every field of human endeavor to examine new ideas, address issues of importance to the nation and the world, and work together to cultivate every art and science which may tend to advance the interest, honor, dignity, and happiness of a free, independent, and virtuous people.”
Professor Shaver is a renowned expert in adult attachment and has published over 300 books and articles. He has served as Executive Officer of the Society of Experimental Social Psychology and President of the International Association for Relationship Research. He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Psychological Association (Fellow, Divisions 8 and 9), the Association for Psychological Science (Founding Fellow), the Western Psychological Association (Fellow), the Association for Research in Personality, the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, the International Society for Justice Research, and the International Society for Research on Emotions. He is past editor of the Review of Personality and Social Psychology and is a member of the editorial boards of Attachment and Human Development, Emotion, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Personal Relationships, and Journal of Social and Personal Relationships.
